College Basketball Betting - Analyzing the Ohio Valley Conference

College basketball betting followers should expect the unexpected in an Ohio Valley Conference that could look a lot different than last year. Straight up (SU), against the spread (ATS), and over/under (O/U) records for the 2007/08 season are in parentheses:

 

TENNESSEE-MARTIN (17-16 SU, 19-9-2 ATS, 18-9-3 O/U): Lester Hudson (25.7 PPG) and Marquis Weddle (17.1 PPG) are the third leading scoring duo in the nation.

Home Favorite:  5-3-1

Home Underdog:  0-1-1

Away Favorite:  1-1

Away Underdog: 10-4

Neutral Site:   2-0

Sportsbook Buster: The Skyhawks were 12-5 ATS on the road last season.

Sports Betting Angle: Tennessee-Martin was 7-1 ATS in non-conference games last season.

 

MOREHEAD STATE (15-15 SU, 14-12-1 ATS, 12-15 O/U): Seven of the team's top nine scorers return to a team looking at a possible 20-win season.

Sportsbook Buster: The Eagles were 13-8 ATS in conference games.

MURRAY STATE (18-13 SU, 10-18-1 ATS, 18-11 O/U): Second in the OVC the last two seasons, with four returning starters, the Racers will be close again.

AUSTIN PEAY (24-11 SU, 12-19-2 ATS, 17-15-1 O/U): The Governors (16-4 in league) aren't as good as a year ago but they still can contend.

TENNESSEE STATE (15-17 SU, 14-14-2 ATS, 16-12-1 O/U): The Tigers discovered a gem in frosh Gerald Robinson (15.2 PPG) but lack a post presence.

EASTERN KENTUCKY (14-16 SU, 13-14 ATS, 10-15-2 O/U): Mike Rose (15.3 PPG) is a blossoming talent but the Colonels don't have much else.
